linoleum (I

I've been busy this week designing a calendar for Organic Gertrude for the forthcoming year. We'd been discussing it for some time, which is why walking into Wolf Whistle (see previous post) had been such a stroke of serendipity. Seeing Dimitra's beautiful linocuts of birds had given me the idea of trying something similar with fruits and vegetables. Here's the ginger. I'll try and post a few more pics of the "process" when I get round to it. I can't tell you just how much fun it has been (aside from the odd gouge). To date I have also cut and printed a watermelon, carrot, mushroom, strawberry, asparagus, pear, peas and beans. It got me thinking about printing my own 2011 calendar. But what subject? I'm a bit of a sucker for words but what could you live with all year? Honestly, I'm stumped. Everything I think of (I'll spare you the list) comes across smug, smart-arsey or a bit hokey. I'm thinking of plain "Home Sweet Home". Apparently, it's what I say when I walk into the house. Your own sweet thoughts on the subject, more than welcome. Welcome - another idea...
